Vice President Paramananda Jha returns home From Chaina
KATHMANDU, JUN 09 - Vice President Paramananda Jha wrapped up his six-day China visit and return ed home on Sunday. He had gone to China to attend and address the inaugural ceremony of the first China-South Asia Exposition on July 6 held in Kunming of Yunnan province to encourage cooperation among South Asian countries.
In Beijing, he met with his counterpart Lin Yunchao on June 7 and discussed various matters of bilateral cooperation as well as ways and means to further expanding the friendly relationship between Nepal and China, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Later in the evening, he attended a dinner party hosted by the Chinese Vice President in his honour.
Earlier in Kunming, Jha met with Ma Kai, Vice Premier of the State Council of China, and dwelt on bilateral issues as well as other issues of mutual interest.
He also attended a banquet dinner organised by Yunnan province in honour of the delegation from various countries. On the sidelines of the expo sition in Kunming, he also met briefly with state leaders from Bangladesh, Laos, Malawi, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Jha also went to Shanghai where he was received by high level officials from the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the deputy director feneral of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the honorary consul of Nepal in Shanghai.
Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai Tu Guangshao hosted a dinner in honour of the Vice President and his delegation. Jha also visited Shanghai Oriental TV Tower and took maglev train, a high speed bullet train, for sightseeing. He left China for Nepal this afternoon.
China-South Asia Commodities Fair, which has been successfully held over five consecutive years, has now been upgraded to China-South Asia Exposition from this year.
